I tend to think that what we are trying to do is somewhat different. There are a number of small tools, many running under Linux. But we are trying to create a more ambitious tool which will be a worthy addition to the Open Office package. It will be full featured (eventually) and multi-platform. As such, we will likely find that starting from scratch is the best option. But of course, if someone wants to prove me wrong, by all means! I'd be happy if there was a way to jumpstart our development.

I am actually thinking of all those developers who have started their
own activity in scheduling and/or charts etc. Since we intend to build
something new, I am hesitant to "cannibalize" existing projects.
But let's see how the response will be.
PS: I also like Planner. It has those features that a simple planning
tool should have.
