GitHub user Xuanwo added a comment to the discussion: [VOTE] Proposal: Adding Cultural References to Release Titles
Hi, @Zheaoli, thank you so much for bringing this up. I really like this proposal and feel it could make our release process more enjoyable and engaging. --- Here is some comments about this proposal: > A release manager will be selected for the version Usually, the release manager should initiate the version plan and begin the discussion. The release manager is not selected; it's a self-promoted role, like saying, "Hey, I want to handle this release." > The release manager can propose a subtitle for the release The release manager can incorporate this into the release plan. We can update the release plan template for clarity. Personally, I feel we don't need a vote for this; we can follow the lazy consensus process, as we do with every release plan discussion, which means it automatically passes without an explicit vote. Any PMC member can cast a binding -1 vote for the subtitle or codename if they believe it's unsuitable. Additionally, other community members can cast a non-binding -1 vote to express their opinion about the proposed subtitle. > Must be non-political and non-offensive We can refer to our CoC policy here. > Requires at least 3 +1 binding votes and no -1 votes As mentioned before, I believe a lazy consensus process is sufficient. The release process is already complex and requires the efforts of many PMC members to make progress. It would be better if we could avoid adding more burden. > Example: "v0.51.0 -- 'ソロキャンは寂しさも 楽しむものなんだって'" We should include in the template that the release manager must provide a brief explanation of this subtitle. > Requirements: Minimum 5 binding +1 votes and no -1 votes Hi, all ASF votes require at least three binding votes. There's no need to increase or decrease the number of binding votes. The most important thing is to reach a consensus across our community.
