Hi,

@Alexei:
"The new thing is AEC mechanism sometimes meddles with hardware echo
cancellation support providing temporary sound outages. It also
provides visible de-synchronization between sound and video channels."

=> Based on what Test did you make this assumption ?
Do you have a version of OpenMeetings 2.1 where AEC is enabled and a
version where it is disabled or are you just comparing OpenMeetings 2.0 and
2.1 ?
What are the exact versions that you are comparing?

Cause for me it sounds more like a random idea that AEC could be the root
cause for what you describe. It could be also for example that we are using
h264 now as video codec or some other parameters that we are using now
since the SWF11 migration.
Or using enhancedMicrophone (maybe you mean that by the term "AEC" ?).
And to be honest: Sound outages for me sounds like the typical stuttering
effect that happens when there is a bandwidth issue.

I think it makes sense to have at least a config parameter somewhere that
enables/disables it.

But the config parameter would more switch between two options:
Option A: Enable enhanced Microphone and AEC
Option B: Use regular Microphone with echoCancellation Flag set to true (I
will have to revisit the ActionScript3 docs about this flag, I think its
effect on echo is rather minimalistic compared to AEC and the enhancedMicro
mode).

By doing that you can at least do concrete test use-case and try to
reproduce the same problem with the exact same version of OpenMeetings and
environment and just switching between the micro options.

Sebastian
