to answer your question: the difference in the required bandwidth
between these codecs around ~ 30-40%, ie with h264 must be 30-40% less
bandwidth than with h263.
As I understand h264 is more CPU-intensive than h263. In a personal
conversation with Maxim, he said that the h263 more stably works in
openmeetings.
