FYI on a somewhat related note ... for those interested in how this topic works in the US, copyright tends to only assign to an employer if the work was created in the normal duties of one's normal work. If one is a contractor or the work is independent of one's job, the individual usually retains copyright, unless there is a contract stating otherwise.
