I'm not an 'expert', but for my last project (before coming here
mid-february) we used git for everything, and did all our work on
github, and were pretty strict about having a branch for every Jira and
having users push up to their personal github forks and then submitting
pull requests to merge them back in to the project specific master (or
branch).
For previous versions of our stuff we did use svn, so I had to make the
(incredibly worthwhile) transition. I also use git ( and sometimes
mercurial) to manage all my config files, personal scripts, and stuff
like /etc/apache2 (basically anything :p )

Hi Burke,
We do not have a video prepared. I have reached out to some people
more git-experienced than I to join us.
All,
If you have experience with git, especially if you've transitioned
from svn to git, we would welcome you as an "expert" on the call!

Darius,
I started a Git for SVN users page
<https://wiki.openmrs.org/x/sQEJAg> to try to build toward a
reference/tutorial for SVN users making the transition to Git,
hoping that we'd have more of it in place before the university
call. Do we have a video or other resource that covers these
tasks? If not, what's the plan for this call? Will we have a git
expert on hand and the opportunity to fill out the wiki page
during the call?

Hi All,
Tomorrow's OpenMRS University call will be about git, and how
developers accustomed to svn can start to learn about it.
Call-in details are at https://wiki.openmrs.org/x/iYJ1AQ
Join us!
