These tutorials are rather old, simply look at the date in the diffs (2005)! I doubt the code will even match the current trunk, besides that module was converted to other build system, you won't even find the dmake makefile. Please look at the advice given by Regina in the thread "Tutorial Impress" http://markmail.org/thread/2rwf34x3r7df7mal I'm sure there is something you don't like about the current version of OpenOffice, you can focus on this, ask for pointers in the source code, and start diving in the source.
