Sorry for the OpenOffice-unrelated suggestion, but the only way I am able to reproduce your problem is by putting something on my F7 key that holds it down. Could it be a defect related to your keyboard? (On the other hand, probably F7 is a shortcut for the spell checker in Word too, so Word won't "solve" the problem if it is a keyboard issue!)
If instead it is clearly related to OpenOffice, please open a bug report at https://issues.apache.org/ooo/ so that we can investigate it.
