Am I understanding the Google page correctly? It sounds like we need tasks in all 5 areas (Coding, Documentation/Training, Outreach/Research, Quality Assurance and User Interface.). We can't just have, say, documentation tasks. Is that correct?
This is how I read it too.
It also sounds like tasks should be "bite sized", things that can be done in 2 hours by an experienced project member, or 3-6 hours by a newbie.
Yes, this is why I was writing "small tasks (maximum 6 hours of work)" in my original message.
We can easily find dozens of such tasks, but we still haven't enough possible mentors to guarantee proper coverage. The deadline is close. If people and other tasks show up, good. Otherwise it will still be useful to collect the "bite sized tasks" discussed in this thread for future reference.
==User Interface== ??? Not sure what can be done here/
The example I made was to propose how to redesign a dialog that is too complex for an end user. We may have several of those.
==Coding==? For a 13 year old?? How much C++ would they know?
The example I made is updating dictionaries. Does not require C++. Some minor, simple, library updates are suitable too.
