Thank you for your answer and details.

I will start with the x64 machine. Since I will need at least 60GB for /, I can 
not do it now.

Two questions:
Would it be better if I could install CentOS 5.11 on metal, in an empty SSD? 

If I can't install and update on metal (due to obsolete SSL/TLS) then would 
Mint 22.2 be ok to use as host?
