Hi Pedro, Using Apache_OpenOffice_4.2.0_Linux_x86-64_install-deb_en-GB (AOO420m5(Build:9824) - Rev. C51e9806e6) worked without an issue.
Incase I had somehow installed a dependency, I reinstalled the version I was having trouble with. Apache_OpenOffice_4.1.15_Linux_x86-64_install-deb_en-GB (AOO4115m2(Build:9813) - Rev. 5f13fa0070) which resulted in the general error. An interesting issue. I do not have older versions of debian to test with to see if it is specific to this new debian release. For screenshots of the various releases, 4.1.15 - https://ibb.co/qFrDxSgL (General Error) 4.2.0 - https://ibb.co/5W6vh8Qt (Perfect) 4.5.0 - https://ibb.co/HDjLXK4q (Perfect) (Not sure about ads from https://imgbb.com/ my system blocks most content) So, I have reinstalled the 4.2.0 you supplied. Working well. I have tested in writer and calc, and all is working as intended. I do note, the 4.5.0 version I have does detect the dark theme for the system and applies it to the window, whereas the 4.2.0 and 4.1.15 (and 4.1.14) did not. But I guess that belongs in another thread. Could you test with the latest Dev build from branch 4.2.0? https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/openoffice/4.2.0-Dev5/ All the best, Pedro > On 11/05/2025 2:58 AM WET Dean Webber <[email protected]> wrote: > > > Hi all, > > I tried with 4.1.15_GB, 4.1.14_GB and 4.1.15_US and all resulted in the same > error. > > Although, I found an old dev build, which seems to want to be > 4.5.0_1_linux-4.15-x86_64, and that works without issue. > > All the best everyone, > Dean > > ________________________________ > From: Dean Webber <[email protected]> > Sent: 04 November 2025 11:22 > To: [email protected] <[email protected]> > Subject: Re: General Error when saving and opening documents in Writer > > Hi Aivaras, > > No this does not seem to be the case. > > I can save the document.
