How do you determine which libraries are needed?

I found that my binaries of 4.1.17 look "modern" simply because they were
compiled under a newer OS (i.e. Ubuntu 18.04.6 running kernel 5.4).
I used the source archive for 4.1.17 and the same script
(build_aoo64bit_on_ubuntu18.sh) and the binaries do not look "outdated" like
the official binaries under LMDE 7.

Best,
Pedro
