   > Microsoft, the leading provider of office suite software, is a platinum
sponsor of your organization, and the one with the most interest in seeing open
alternatives fail. Ensuring that a broken, buggy, obsolete version of their
flagship software is the most recognized and SEO optimized version of an open
source alternative is good business. But sure, no conflicts of interest at
all...

Microsoft pushes a lot of ressources into open source.
Microsoft did sponsor ODF1.3. I am not sure how much they worked on ODF1.4.

The ASF on the other hand is a Stuard of Open Source for over 1000 Project
in its portfolio. AOO is only one of many Projects. We are not as important
then you think we are.

   > Your software is one step above a scam.
You have a wired understanding of SCAM.

   > I've seen a great many of elderly people with this on their computer.
There are over 700k downloads of it this week. Many of these people don't know
any better alternative.

and you believe that they would use a different software if we stop? That is
a wired logic.
I have talked to a lot of users on facebook, and they were aware on their
choices.

   > tricking people into downloading objectively worse software

We have no tricks. All we do is maintaining code.

   > Many of these users will get frustrated and just go back to paying
Microsoft

It is up to users to make the right choice for them. I am not aware on any
data that support this.

   > I don't really have any sympathy or niceties to give you.

Beeing positive / Polite des not mean you need to be supportive to the
projects. It means showing respect. Be informed and show that you have
knowledge and not do not rant. It means that you work with data that can be
independantly reviewed.
You just claim wild facts that some people state without having any
foundations.
