Many thanks for this information. The answer then is to update my localisation package to make the Options - View dialog work. I found one for OOo2.0.2rc1 Linux at http://ftp.linux.cz/pub/localization/OpenOffice.org/devel/ It works! I can set the icon style to "Default" (or any others). >From your clues again, if there isn't a localisation package available, you can change icon style and still run with your older localisation pack by setting the Interface locale to US, restarting OOo, setting the icon style then resetting your preferred Interface locale and restarting OOo again.
