This is a good reason for *correct* quoting, not for the top-quoting non sense and for its countless drawbacks and waste of time; anyway, you can find explanations in the documents I have referenced. Furthermore, if you just do not want to quote (as a step-by-step reference) the text you are replying to, then there is no reason to top-quote some hundreds of lines (!!!), that everyone has already received and are not useful at all: the (bad) null-quoting provides almost the same result; you can also leave only 2-3 lines of quoting to let people understand, also without threading, which message you are (not quoting and) replying to: that is surely not as bad as top quoting hundreds of lines. A huge top-quoting is even more bad if no quoting sign is used to immediately separe new text from (not) quoted text: at a first glance, it seems that you have written hundreds of lines and that all that lines have to be read. Another simple reason to avoid top-quoting (in particular, big amounts of top quoting): a blind reader has to hear the speech for all that hundreds of lines of text just to know, only at the end, that you have quoted without any reason for quoting but to waste his time. I avoid other (countless) examples, as I have already referenced a rather complete document about correct quoting and the reasons for it. > > Click the spacebar ... > > Best wishes, > > With which mouse button? And anyway, in the third millenium, I do not know of any program that does not allow fast and easy scrolling of the mail body in one or more ways; at the same time, even in the third millenium, english is still written and read from left to right and from top to bottom (not the contrary), books are still written and read starting from the first page/chapter and not from the last ones, and so on, and the time machine has still not been implemented ;-) Marco Pratesi -- Non rispondere all'indirizzo mittente, che è solo un collettore di spam.
