If you want be taken serious, do not argue for shipping a version completely
unsuported from Mozilla and security-buggy and using this. When I say
Mozilla I always refer to the suite FWIW, otheriwse I'd have said
"Firefox" or so.

Huh? Why? You are the authors, you could have uses OpenSSL/OpenLDAP in
the first place. Maybe optional so that both options are there, but not
Mozilla alone.

Almost all distris have to disable the Mozilla AB stuff because they
a) cant hip the binary-only zips for building (you know, security-buggy etc)
b) do build against system-mozilla (mostly not the old, unsupported suite but
XULRunner or even Firefox) and c) can't patch their Mozilla anywqy to build
against it (that would also not make that much sense).

I would like to help but I don't have that much knowledge about e.g.
LDAP at all and what it requires to move the LDAP adress book stuff from
using Mozilla to OpenLDAP. I did that for the LDAP config backend,
though, but that was easy.
Similar for sigital signatures and OpenSSL.

For example?
