There must be plenty of duplicates - that's why we have a special button for them - and in my experience, complaints no longer hurt, after the first 100 or so ;) My suggestion is - at least do a serious search first, then go ahead and file the issue. Include a description of the search such as: "I searched the site for <envelope crash> and found nothing relevant." That way people can give feedback that might help to improve the searching method.
