It looks like Pidgin+ZeroConf (aka Bonjour), GoogleDocs' Chat and InkScape's WhiteBoard (XMPP).
-- Marco de Freitas Hi Marco, yes that is right. Retromessenger is ZERO Config. Bonjour is as well a serverless approach but not open and stuck to a proprietary protocol. Google Doc chat would describe the functionality OOo can profit from if there is a messenger and to include a whiteboard is as well possible over retroshare and that as well for several members, so in a group updating, that is within the library achitecture. You cannot do this over yahoo pidgin messenger. XMPP is not bad, but as said, it is serverbased and you need not this middle step, if the communication is encrypted, then you can go just from point to point. and you do not need any maintenance of a server or any admin. So we skip the middle node. RetroMessenger is worldwide the best serverless architecture so far and that is why we should use it. For OOo we developed over one year (see that we contacted OOo lead developers in summer 2007) and now we are ready to present a simple messenger app. We do not want to wait anotehr 4 years to see it as an component, but if the start is done as an extention, we need to do this Ox-Tour. We appreciate that someone started already the extentsion development. So lets see, where it goes and what we need to do. Is there any official SVN for OOo? is OOo a totally spare time project or are any professionals working on it? a plan would be good to see if this is going on or not. To believe anyone is having a surprise release in the next years is some kind of indifferent.. As Mathias suggested his help, I hope we get in time some feedback from him.. Regards Max
