Profile directory doesn't seem like the best name for this directory to me. I prefer repository directory. Also what is in randpool.dat and cacert.pem and why shouldn't they be in the repository like the rest of our data?

bear landed the first version of profile directory. This is needed for
installers among other things. Basically anything that we used to write
into chandler dir will now end up in the profile dir.

Currently the profile dirs are:

Windows: $HOME\Chandler
Mac: /Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/Chandler
Linux: ~/.chandler

These are going to change, though. See
http://wiki.osafoundation.org/bin/view/Chandler/ProfileDirectory for plans.

Here are the 5 things that I know will now be placed into and read from
the profile dir:

chandler.log
__repository__
__repository__.lock
randpool.dat
cacert.pem

Note that cacert.pem is copied from chandler/crypto/cacert.pem if it
does not exist in the profile dir. This means that you can edit
cacert.pem as you like in the profile dir without fear of it changing
from under you (and you can stop changing the one in chandler/crypto and
don't need to worry about checking it in accidentally).
