Until it does, I think we should leave monitor-based notifications
on individual attribute editors as they are, and not worry about
bugs relating to changes arriving from other views (ie, via sync -
this was use case E in my original message).
In 0.6 sharing takes place in the main UI repository view.
So this means that we'd only see bugs with email? If so, yes, I think
leaving as is looks pretty reasonable for 0.6.
Short answer: Actually, I don't think so (that is, I don't think we'd
see this bug at all).
Longer answer: Sharing was the case I was worried about, because it was
the only situation I (thought I) knew of where an existing item could be
updated by something in a background thread (actually, repository view).
Email's not a problem because, though we get new items in a background
thread & repository view, there's never a situation where we'd get a
change to an existing item that way; for this to be a problem under case
E, that existing item would have to be displayed in the detail view when
the change comes in.
