No, I don't think they do - and the discussion on this list earlier demonstrates this. For instance, its not clear that the "release" version still allows the use of WingIDE and other python development tools.

Debug is generally only for debugging some of the C++ libraries, like wx. I've been working at OSAF for a year now and I haven't done a debug build in over 8 months.. I've gotten by just fine. I think this might be worth mentioning.

 Sure, it's slower than release
version, but it gives you additional debug information that you may need
when debugging. And practically nobody else except developers will be
