-1 to switching away from IRC to a proprietary walled-garden alternative. That is, despite IRC shortcomings (I’m pretty useless on IRC these days). Fine with slack or similar so long as there's a gateway to IRC. I think I read somewhere recently slack were locking IRC out? — Nick Kew
