Hello,
I think this proposal has a communication problem: SemVer explicitly
targets backwards compatibility, but your proposal denotes forwards
compatibility changes. This may/will confuse some users who will assume
that a Parquet N+1 reader will not be able to read Parquet N files.
Perhaps branding this "a modified variant of semantic versioning" would
alleviate the issue.
