aha, "the better is the enemy of the good".
Wouldn't the right approach be:
1) we have identified and implemented a specific place where we want it
2) we want a general solution, but until we implement the general solution, we
do not silently remove the specific one.
3) once we have the general solution, we implement it and then
4) we go back to the specific solution - most likely the page info is now twice
in the error, so we remove the specific solution (and document it in the place
where the idea first came up)?
