Thanks Sebb for your input. >From my experience, the announce list is used for all sorts of releases. Today, there have also been announcements for a beta release of Jackrabbit [1] and a milestone release of TomEE [2]. I would assume that any beta, RC or milestone release is just for preview and testing. We have not seen any significant issues with our suite of 1.1.0-M1 releases but we have been warning users that they should be careful about using them in production.
