Ok, so here is a proper patch for modperl_cmd.c. Please try it (attached as well), it's a bit different from the previous one.
Works a treat. The server starts up OK with the vhost test stuff in place, and the three conf files still work too.
Thanks Steve. We have missed the PerlRequire case, which would have had the same problem. I have extended the fix for this hook too.
I've also changed the test name to TestVhost::config as it really deals with configuration...
Now committed.
We still need to resolve the Apache->server issue.
