[~sergey.b] - I was talking about an improvement for the internal
implementation of the function, not forcing the user to do this in SQL. I'm +1
on having these functions. I also like your EXTRACT idea. We might be able to
have one of our GSoC participants implement that. Would you mind filing a JIRA
with some description as a subtask of PHOENIX-1662 and set the labels field to
gsoc2015.
