I backported the hbase-metrics API to HBase 1.4+ in HBASE-9774
In PHOENIX-3807, I'm still waiting for the Phoenix HBase 1.4+ branch to switch
everything over to hbase-metrics. But as Josh said, until then we still need
the Hadoop metrics
