James Taylor commented on PHOENIX-8:
------------------------------------
The 2.x line is in good shape now - it's what everyone's using today, except
those who are brave enough to use our master branch :-)
IMO, there are two non-technical gating items:
- getting an answer about whether or not we can keep our name
(https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/PODLINGNAMESEARCH-44). Although not a
hard requirement, I'd like to release using our "permanent" name.
- getting the IP clearance from Salesforce for Apache. Our legal team is
guest-imating we'll have this by the end of next week.
I don't think it's worthwhile for Jeffrey to backport his work to the 2.x
branch, as most people would upgrade to the 3.x release once out. There's
plenty of interesting, other work he could do for Phoenix, though, of course!

> Given the GitHub hosted Phoenix project is already up to the release series
> 2.0.x, I propose the first version of Phoenix released under the Apache roof
> should be 3.0.0.
