I've backed out my fix for now.
Roger, the only solution that it available to you right now, is too push the
scrollAreaToVisible() method call into a new Runnable, which is queued to be
run after the TextArea modification.
That will ensure that the component hierarchy is validated before
scrollAreaToVisible() performs it's calculations.
Long-term, I can't see any easy solution, other than documenting this
requirement.
