I just wanted to report that my inquiries with the OPC-Foundation were successful (Ok in the end it turned out that we wouldn’t have needed to ask). They officially confirmed that the License of the Spec allows us to implement the OPC-UA driver and that the spec is no longer under GPL (Was that way some time ago) So now we could officially start implementing an OPC-UA Driver … any volunteers interested (and having the time) to start tackling this task? As far as I understand it OPC-UA is quite a beast, but it handles far more than we need to simply read and write data. So don’t be scared. I think they call this “OPC-UA Base” https://opcfoundation.org/developer-tools/specifications-unified-architecture Still sort of waiting for Legal to finish one JIRA though: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LEGAL-365 Which correlates to: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/PLC4X-7 Which finally blocks: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/PLC4X-6 So I’m really hoping that we’ll sort this out … at least the ball is on our side of the net.
