Hi all,

today I finally got to spare some time for woking on PROFINET for a longer
block of time without interruption.

Good news is, that I got the PROFINET Master software, that I bought to work,
by running it on my host and not in a VM. Here I was able to establish a
Profinet IO connection (Even if I keept on getting sync problems ... but I
guess that's due to the fact that windows simply isn't a good real-time
operating system.

But I was able to capture the traffic and start decoding it.

So my next step will be to create something that allows to connect to the PN
device and get a stable PN-IO connection working ... I will postpone actually
interpreting the results till I managed to get that working. Because if I can't
get this stable connection, putting too much work in the rest isn't going to be
worth it.

Perhaps in the end the result will be, that with Java on Windows we won't get
far ... perhaps having to go nearer to the machine, like with Go and running it
on Real-Time-Linux will be the way to go.

...

So far the update ... Fear not ... I'm still on it :-)

And luckily it seems as if I won't be needing PROFINET via DCE/RPC for now ...
this is just insane ...

Chris
