We didn't remove the adapter from the project. That's still in the extras repo. 
We asked it to be removed from the confluent store, as we were not willing to 
put up with the constraints confluent wanted to pile on us without giving 
anything back.

As far I remember we have removed kafka connect adapter because it
required maintenance which no one was ready to commit.
Can you outline which adapter you would like to configure?
I'd like to mention that there is working component for Apache Camel
which was donated a while ago. You could use it as intermediate way to
seed data from OPC-UA to Kafka broker.
