This is apparently common for ADS and OPC UA. UMAS could use it as well for some system functions (Start/Stop PLC).
For the logix driver you could abuse it and create functions for a number of system functions (Start/Stop PLC, Setting Time, setting the timezone comment, etc..) But yeah it would be useful.
