Hi Chris, I was honestly saddened, and a little discouraged, to read this.
When I first introduced myself and the plc4net work, your welcome and detailed guidance gave me a lot of confidence to continue. Your explanations around SPI3, mspec, language- native tooling, and the history of plc4net have materially shaped the direction of the work. At the same time, I fully respect your decision. After everything you have invested in PLC4X, you deserve the time and distance you need, without being expected to keep triaging issues, fixing problems, or mentoring new contributors. You said that it is time for others to step up and participate. I will try to do my part. The S7 and Modbus paths in plc4net have now been validated, and I have started splitting the work into smaller, reviewable contributions so that it can be carried forward with the wider community. Thank you for welcoming me and for all the foundations you have built in PLC4X. I sincerely hope this break gives you the rest and space you are looking for.
