To fix issue 40893, I had to add one more patch to curl/curl-7.12.2.patch 1.3.2.1. This makes it even less likely that configuring OOo with --with-system-curl works reliably.
sure? Your commit message implies that the problem only is when you have HTTP disabled?
Correct.
The curls out there in the distributions do *not* have HTTP disabled....
That may also be correct. However, I claim that "This makes it even less likely..." still holds (at least from a theoretical standpoint). :)
I haven't tested opening a ftp document over ftp with a proxy set on my 1.1.x linked against libcurl3 yet but I can do.
Or is that issue a 2.0-only issue? If, I can try with a OOo build linked against external libcurl3....
The code in curl that reads the ftp_proxy environment variable seems to be new in curl 7.12.2 we use for OOo 2.0, and seems to not be there (or not hit us for any other reason) in curl 7.9.8 we used for OOo 1.x.
