If they (the graphic tools) are good enough I think they are a pretty good choice - that's me personal opinion. But maybe I'm just biased because I was used to debug with MS dev or Win DBG (which is for free)
on Windows up to now. Maybe if I become an gdb acrobat I will say the opposite
in a few month ;-)
For example in OOo writer a lot of complex data structures will be used.
When tracking down a problem many modules, etc. might be involved. I'm not yet convinced that it is easier to track a complicated problem using gdb from the command line in this case. Apart from the (often experienced) instability of gdb.
