Hi,

I am experiencing difficulties building Python 2.2.2 on Macosx 10.4
(Tiger).
Does it build, or not ? Sorry, I don't understand what means
"difficulties" ? Actually, python 2.2.2 is used, and everything
builds fine. Ok, 2.3.4 will fixes somes 2.2.2 bugs, but build is other
thing.

As you can see, nothing else. And everything builds fine, with 10.4.0,
gcc-3.3 / Fink + Fully buggy Apple's X11
Are there efforts underway to 'backport' the Python patches to
add --with-system-python or Python 2.3.4 to the SRX645 (OOo
1.1.4/1.1.5) tree?
I don't remember because they're biggest priorities (for 1.9.xx), but
I strongly advice you to build 1.1.4 on tiger with 2.2.2 first.
Why do you want to backport Python2.3.4 in OpenOffice.org1.1.4 ? A lot
of other changes are from far more urgent.
If not, I will open a issue to track efforts to do so (if this is not
the proper procedure, please advise off of the list how this is done.)
IMHO, this is not necessary, because we're several to build 1.1.4
without (too big) problem, especially in python module, always ok.
IMHO, your configuration or the options you pass to configure is/are
not the good one.
And if you have build problems, you can
1) ask here with complete error log
2) try <http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/project_issues.html>
Just giving one or two words *only* in "Description contains" field.
e.g : python...
For your information, here's the content of my config.parms :
--with-x --with-lang=FREN,ENUS,DTCH
--with-ant-home=/Volumes/sauvegarde/macxjoin1153/OOo1.1.4/external/apache-ant-1.6.1
--with-jdk-home=/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Home
--enable-fontconfig
--with-system-freetype
+ all the patches I directly send you, like the one for STLport
changes. BTW this patch is a bit wrong, and need to be modified, but
it will perfectly work for 10.4 (only).
Nothing else is needed if you want to build *OpenOffice.org/X11* on
Mac OSX 10.4 ;-)
Eric:
Again, thank you for your insight and assistance. It appears that you
are successful in completing a build where I am not.
The reason that I cannot build OOo 1.1.4 may be my computer. One last,
but very important question, did you upgrade from Jaguar/Panther to
Tiger or did you remove them and then install Tiger? I went through the
upgrade path. If you did a clean install, this just may be what I have
to do in order to get a good and clean build.
