There are other solutions, such as installing various remote administration
tools, or running Mac OS X Server rather than Mac OS X client. If you know
exactly the configuration of your machine, and always choose between
Panther and Tiger, then 'nvram' will be fine. But a more general solution
is the 'bless' tool. See "man bless".
