Which Windows version ?

The share is on a Linux Box, should be RedHat 9!

Looks like your problem is completely described, with a workaround.

Please confirm if you can solve (or not) your problem.

No I don´t thing that this is or solves my problem. Also opening files on this share works with Neooffice and also with previous versions of OpenOffice.

In the meantime I found something interesting on the trinity neooffice board, there is another user reporting a problem with files on a server.
Also the answer from Openstep could probably help solving this problen.
