Title: Problem Installing OpenOffice for Apple OSX
Hello there. I hope I am not asking a terribly stupid question. I have downloaded OpenOffice 2.0 (X11) for Mac. I simply can’t get it to work. When download finishes, the disk image appears (as when you download all Mac programs). I have tried double-clicking the OpenOffice icon and I have tried copying the program to my Applications folder. Whenever I open the program, not much happens: It seems something opens, but in truth, not much happens: next to the Apple icon on the top left corner I get three menu headers: OpenOffice, File and Edit – and that’s it. Except for clicking on these menus to find submenus (most of whose choices are grayed out) there is no way to start anything, like, say, start writing a document, opening a spreadsheet, etc.
Since installing OpenOffice in Windows XP was a piece of cake and all works great, is there something I should know or do you think there’s a bug?
I have an iMac G5 which runs Tiger on it. I read about X11 but it looks like it’s already installed with Tiger. So I am at a loss – thank you for your attention,
