This was said to me on a Gentoo forum.
Is it true?
I thought porting to 64bit was still going on?
Actually, OO can now compile under amd64 and run in native 64 bits
mode. No problem.
Have a look at http://porting.openoffice.org/
There is at least one 64-bit port in development.
Ya, "in development" :-)
I do not think there is any 64bit port done yet. :-)
I think what the Gentoo people are talking about is using 32bit libraries.
I don't know enough to say for sure though.
OOo compiles out of the box for 64bit linux, at least for the
--with-system-libs case, the only one most really care about. There is
only one known bug in the OOF series (the up and coming 2.2.0) with
default tabstops being saved incorrectly, fix is in cvs somewhere and
will be merged post 2.2.0.
I think we've compiled out of the box for 64bit for a few releases now,
though with a ever-reducing number of minor buglets.
