Welcome Charles,

thank you for your introduction. Please take some minutes to read the documents about "How can you help" at http://qa.openoffice.org/helping.html and about the issue handling at http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/index.html. Within the first link you find information about the formalism to get privileges regarding confirmation of issues in IssueTracker.

If you like to do automation there are two ways. The first would be using the testtool (http://qa.openoffice.org/qatesttool/index.html) which would be the GUI approach. The second is testing the API via API framework (http://qa.openoffice.org/qadevOOo_doc/index.html) which is more technical but as you already programmed C++/Perl/Java it might be the most interesting for you.

If you like to help the localization teams then please take a look at http://qa.openoffice.org/localized/index.html

Kind regards, Joost
