Hi,

The TestTool application for Solaris x86 is available now,
and the webpage is updated.

@Andre: the first mail yesterday didn't make it beyond my mailserver :-(
but the mailserver is still trying to deliver it :-)

Hi,

and you can't use testtool binary from other platform with working
testtool? IIRC testtool can connect to OOo instance running on other
computer/platform. Right?

You do not need testtool *on the same platform* to run the tests. At least
I remember this from last OOoCon presentation about it.

Yes, I remember this too and I tried it during OOo 1.1.4 release (as
testtool binary for windows is broken since 1.1.4). But it didn't work.
I've been told that this functionality was removed (mails might be somewhere
here in the lists archives).
Testtool documentation still states that "you can test each installation ...
in a LAN" but has no detailed info about this. (But ok, I can give it a try
.. as I'm interested if it still works).

Anway .. that was exactly my initial question: how to proceed? "Try to test a remote installation." was a perfect hint.

We lost this feature some time ago.
It is still possible, but the startup procedures would need to get adjusted. In the testcases, the test developers would also have to think
about that the tests could be run remote. And have to check sometimes
if testtool and OOo are on the same machine or not - 'gSamePC' true or false.
Most commands affected, are the ones that could get run in the TestTool,
or in OOo; e.g.: dir() - is executed in testtool and app.dir() - is
executed in OOo.

So the feature is available, but it doesn't work. And there are no plans
right now to enable it again, since the TestTool application is build
on every platform. If the latest build doesn't have a working TestTool
application, then use/build an older one on the milestone the 'official'
provided ones have.

cheers
Thorsten
