Hi all,

I'm jumping at the end of your mail

Unfortunately, and perhaps I am mistaken, I have the distinct impression
that the Base module is cast aside somewhat or simply under-represented
in the QA process, possibly because the resources are and have been so
limited for this module. If this is so, then it really is regrettable,
and an error IMHO which will have serious repercussions. The Base module
was developed following user requests for an integrated database
solution. As such, i.e. an integrated part of the OOo product, it should
undergo the same degree of QA scrutiny as the other modules. The
ressources allocated to this project should at least be as commensurate
as the implied scope of potential problems, since this module is one of
the most touted features of the new suite. The QA tests for base are at
present virtually inexistent compared to the other modules, yet it is an
area where data integrity should be at least as good as the competing
products.

I mostly agree with you about Base and completly about qa tests. Actually we are doing qa-test that are not adapted to 2.0, l10n test cases are l10n oriented and smoke test are still in 1.x state. So if you're doing smoke tests, there is no case for Base.

Andre and Joost, shall we design a bunch of smoke test cases for Base before 2.0.2 ? and shall we add the new functionalities (like digital signatures, mailing by e-mail, etc...) to the test case ? More and more NLC projects will qa'ed their versions and this is great, keeping the tests updated will ensure an equal quality for all of us. I'm willing to help here if you give me some hint on how-to write smoke tests :)

Although I can not speak for the French N-L group as a whole (that is
not my role, Sophie does a great job), my personal opinion is that RC5
should not get the green light with this error in it.

I agree here with Douglas that 2.0.1 should not be delayed any more because it corrected really annoying bugs and a lot of users are already waiting for it.

Kind regards
Sophie
