Cor and André,

I have had a good look at all the sources you pointed out and am more aware
of the process complexity that I knew was there but hadn’t seen. There is an
evident tension between the micro (let’s fix issues) and the macro (let’s
combine issues into a proper design) which is inherent in developing all
software. Both have their place.

The point I came in from was an observation that fixing minor already
accepted defects is being put off in 2.0.n because something better is
planned. I’m reminded of the joke about the IBM Systems Engineer sitting on
the bed next to his partner and explaining how great things would be in
three years time. Users need some simple things fixed sooner than that!

I’m happy to comment on discussions/documents/specs and to bang the drum for
improved usability, but I do not have sufficient background to sensibly
initiate stuff.

Apart from that, I will continue to work on minor issues, pleading for
earlier usability. Some issues have been moved from ‘later’ to ‘3.0’, which
I suppose is progress.
