I suggest the following for this test:

Download the .dmg file.
Drag and drop the executable into the /Applications folder.  If an existing 
version for the level is present you should get a cancel/replace dialog in your 
native language.  If this program does not exist, the application should copy 
to this folder.

There is also an effort, although small, to use the Apple Installer to install 
OpenOffice.org.

This test does have validity for the Mac platform.
