Its because you don't have svnversion in the path, the build is using it to write a properties file but is set not to fail when it isn't found. However, if you don't have it and re-run the build it checks the now-present qpidversion.properties file that was written and finds the property it is trying to read is set as itself instead of a revision number...circular dependency :)
