Let's start a thread, and see if we can get enough OS X people on the list to contrib and get the mac port done.

I know of a few other mac users on the list.

Andrew, why don't you start the thread and there might be enough people that want to chip in to get it done

Carl.

Hello! I'd love to promote qpid on OS X as well - but find myself in much the same boat as you. We run the C++ broker on RHEL at work, and I'm involved with java clients. I've built the java client & broker happily on OS X so far...but that's about all I'm afraid. I wish my C++ skills were up to porting the broker!

Andrew

Coming at qpid from a JMS perspective we found some initially-surprising
behaviour before we discovered this parameter.

Of course it can be changed for performance reasons if needed later.

Hi Andrew, I see you're a fellow mac user (though I go by my Apache
address on the list).

Are you using Qpid on the Mac? Can you tell us more about your usage
of Qpid? Would be interested to know what the experience was like. I'm
keen to get OS X supported as a 1st class citizen in the Qpid world
but don't have much call for the platform in my work life. As a result
progress is quite slow.

Cheers

Hi,

Just wanted to generate some discussion on peoples thoughts around
changing the Java prefetch from its current 5000 value to 1.

Having a default of 1 will work for all users and prevent users from
hurting themselves when they use priority queues or TTL and expect
things to just work.

If users know what they're messaging profile is and so know what they
are doing then they can set the maxprefetch to a higher value.

Thoughts/ Comments?
