I should add that it would be useful if you could quantify this a bit
more - which production environments are you specifically talking about?

I have personally built the cpp package on Red Hat 5.4, Fedora 11/12,
and Debian Lenny without encountering this issue. So I'm curious as to
which production environment(s) you are referring to.

I have had issues building on Solaris with gcc 4-3.2 and boost 1.35 (due
to the -Werror) but then Solaris is currently broken for other reasons
anyway.
